Legends: Gary Cooper
Published in Paperback by Random House Value Pub (June, 1987)
Authors: John Kobal and Outlet
Average review score:

In one word : buy it!
Definitively one of the best book on Cooper - at least one of the best in an iconographic way. Many pictures, all b/w, clear and very well defined, from the early years to Friendly Persuasion. The Kobal Collection is superbly show here. We knew Cooper was handsome, but after this viewing, we know it better. Laila Valente

The Life of Poetry
Published in Paperback by Paris Pr (September, 1996)
Authors: Muriel Rukeyser and Jane Cooper
Average review score:

A must-read for poets, authors, and fans of the arts!
Ever wonder why people actively loathe poetry?

Ever wonder why you should continue writing/painting/acting/reading?

Rukeyser's book moves well beyond the range of traditional literary theory, incorporating philosophy, social theory, and science to present a world view unlike any I had ever encountered before.

Lights, Camera, Attitude! (Hollywood Wars, No 2)
Published in Paperback by Penguin/Puffin Mass Market (April, 1993)
Author: Ilene Cooper
Average review score:

ROAR! I'm hungry for more books like this---so I can EAT!
I kept putting off the time I would "eat" this book cause it's about "Hollywood and all that." I thought it would all be about: "Oh no, my hair is lopsided!" and all that dumb nonsense about how they look and how glamorous a movie star's life is. Instead I got rivalry and family problems and I know the way I say this sounds no better than my first opinion but nevertheless this book is way cool! I think Brad is a total jerk and I'm SO glad that Alison broke up with him. I mean, talk about a waste of space! Sheesh. And the way Ilene Cooper(the writer,)makes Mr.O'leary talk seems so... real. I actually feel SYMPATHY for the characters in this story, I mean the way they talk, act and feel seems so realistic. The promblem (or the good thing) about Jamie and Alison is they are practically EQUAL. I mean Alison is all sweet, innocent, pretty, nice and understanding but she's WAY too goody-goody and easy to push around. Now Jamie is also pretty but in a different way, even though she is also a redhead. See Jamie is more curvy and athletic-looking, (at least that's how I think of her,) and Alison is all slim and angelic-looking. Now Jamie has a tougher life and is more of an individual while Alison depends so much on her "mommy and daddy". I feel sorry for the O'leary family cause everything is all messed up. In the summary of the book I don't think it's right to mention Jamie's diet. It wasn't that big of a deal. Dana is a total and complete, I mean "incomplete" airhead and is totally weird and unreasonably pushy. I LUV it when Jamie told her off, she had it coming. I sort of think it isn't fair, at the prom, Jamie had a great time (except for ugh, Brad,) and Alison had practically the worst night of her life because of duh... Brad. I wish Elsie appeared more in the story, she's cute. Overall, this book is a must-read and you better read it or else... P.S. I apologise for my uhh... strange way of speaking. Ta-ta!

Likely stories : ten short stories
Published in Unknown Binding by Wings Press ()
Author: Robert Cooper
Average review score:

A comic delight.
Robert Cooper's first book, Likely Stories, is a collection of ten delightful vignettes which lovingly show us that beneath the apparent disorder of every day life there is definitely a masterful, if slightly absurd, plan. They delicately describe the beauty lurking just beneath this apparent disorder: a podiatrist more in love with the safety of feet than his self sacrificing wife, earns a second chance at marriage by wrecking his Mercedes; the face on a wanted poster belongs to an elementary school sweetheart and brings a young man memories of young love; another finds that his entire life, and that of a rival have been scarred by one moment in a little league baseball game; and in one of my favorites a small girl finds odd pleasure in insects: Penny loved bugs....She loved them so much that at the tender age of six she vowed to devote her life to their medical needs. She called herself "the bug doctor" and had the crayoned diplomas to support her claim. As the title of the book implies, these are not common stories. They are facetious, giddy, sometimes rambling, distillations of life. They are like the bunch of old forgotten photographs one finds in a shoe box. The truth they tell --in hindsight-- is weightier and a bit more bittersweet, and it is colored by love and by forgiveness. Cooper has taken the raw material of life and made something beautiful, lilting, and wonderfully entertaining.

Line Form Color (French Language Edition/Edition francais)
Published in Paperback by Harvard University Art Museums (July, 1999)
Authors: Ellsworth Kelly and Harry Cooper
Average review score:

After 50 years, Kelly's project is comlpeted
A book first submitted by Ellsworth Kelly in 1951, it was not first published until 1999, to accompany another new book about Kelly- The Early Drawings. Kelly calls this book "an alphabet plastic pictoral elements", and in that he means expressing the very basic principles and elemnts of art- Line Form and Color, as said in the title. The book comes in two volumes- the first one- Kelly's simple designs cover each page with no text- except for the title and Kelly's 1951 letter, trying to get the book published. The second volume is a brief explination of his early work, including his first monochrome. I have never seen an art book so artistically created. The book dosen't give in to half-decent design- probably because it was designed by the artist himself. A great book for any art fan, and at very reasonable price.

Lion Dancer: Ernie Wan's Chinese New Year
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Authors: Kate Waters, Madeline Slovenz-Low, and Martha Cooper
Average review score:

A wonderful book for introducing Chinese New Year
This book is one of my favorite books for Chinese New Year celebration. The authors successfully capture the lively and warm atmosphere of New Year celebrating among Chinese. Through the realistic photograph as well as the text, the authors show readers the custom of the Chinese New Year, such as offering food and incense at the altar and wearing new clothes in New Year. In addition, the authors also appendix the Chinese horoscope to the end of the book. The Chinese horoscope is an important part of the Chinese culture and is still widely used among the Chinese community. The Chinese characters in the horoscope are also written correctly and beautifully in Chinese paint brush to represent the artistic aspect of Chinese writing system.
